Modifier 52?

Patient came in for EGD and PEG tube placement. EGD was done and PEG tube placement was attempted. However patient had only 5 cm gastric mucosa due to earlier gastrectomy that the physician had not been aware. Incision was made but PEG tube could not be placed. Should this be coded as EGD only or EGD with PEG tube placement and include either modifier 52 or 53?
