Billing
Can you now bill a procedure & office visit on the same day/same visit?
re: Billing
it depends on the situation. If the procedure is related to the reason for the visit, then no. Example, patient came in because they had a foreign body in their eye. You can charge for the removal of t he foreign body, but not the office visit. Typically anything with a 10 day global period, you cannot charge for the exam as the exam is included in the charge for the procedure. If the patient came in because they were having chest pains and it was decided to do heart surgery (90 day global period), then you can bill the exam with a 57 modifier. For the 10 day global procedures, if the procedure is not related to the reason for the exam, then you can bill the exam with a 25 modifier.
