Auxiliary Staff

I have been looking for the Medicare/CMS definition of "Auxiliary Personnel" I know, or at least I think I know that these people are the Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses and Technicians in a Medical office. These people are also not in the classification of the Non-Physician Practitioner. However, I have been asked to find this on the Medicare/CMS website. I have searched high and low. I have found many documents that refer to auxiliary personnel but, not a document that defines who these people are.

Does such a document exist? And if so I would be forever grateful if you could lead me to it.

Thank you

re: Auxiliary Staff

In addressing incident-to, CMS defines auxiliary staff as stated below. I have pasted a link to the site so that you may view in its entirety....hope this helps.

" .........Auxiliary personnel means any individual who is acting under the supervision of a physician, regardless of whether the individual is an employee, leased employee, or independent contractor of the physician, or of the legal entity that employs or contracts with the physician. Likewise, the supervising physician may be an employee, leased employee or independent contractor of the legal entity billing and receiving payment for the services or supplies."
