How do we properly list and code Hep C that has been treated and cleared?

Hello,
I work in hepatology and liver transplant. We have many patients who we treat for Hepatitis C who clear the virus, therefore they technically do not have HCV any longer. However, the HCV was still the primary reason for their transplant and many times they have subsequent liver damage from the hepatitis C before it is treated so we need to have a way to list in their problem list their previous or cleared Hep C status. I see no code for treated for previous HCV. This is also important as our pathologists use the problem list as guidance on what is likely contributing to their liver fibrosis/picture, and if they see HCV they will list the current damage as "recurrent hepatitis C" when the virus has been cleared. Ideas? Thank you!

Have you looked at v12.09? This is listed under history of hepatitis C. Category V12 is Personal history of certain other diseases. Hope that is helpful!
