patient charging

Am i correct in thinking that you have to charge everyone the same . However, you can write off if you are going to give a discount. ex. charge Mr Jones $50.00 and then charge Mr. Smith 20.00 for the same services?? is that legal?

patient charging

Why would you charge different patients different amounts?

You are allowed to give cash payers a discount.

You are allowed to develop a policy for financial hardship, that applies to all, is written, etc, and give patients charity discounts based on the policy. Of course, you can't discriminate, etc.

Medicare does not allow you to routinely charge private payers less than you charge it. Most of us have fee schedules higher than both, so it isn't an issue.

Your insurance contracts don't allow you to waive copays or deductibles.
