Doc remove 1 skin tag (back), destruct 2 lesions (LT side of the face) and shave biopsy- 2 lesions- RT side of the face done on the same day of service. What mod should I use- 50, 51 or 59? Thanks!

List all of the procedures.

Check the NCCI edits: are any bundled into one another?

List the code with the highest RVUs first.

If procedures are not bundled, bill second and subsequent with 51 modifier.

If procedures are bundled but meet definition of separate and distinct, those procedures get a 59 modifier.

Skin tags are cosmetic in most cases.
