Fluoroscopy codes 76000, 76001, 77002, 77003

Does anyone know if the above codes can be used along with any surgical procedures? I heard that Medicare has a table that lists what fluoroscopy codes can be used with procedures but it's difficult finding things on their website. Does anyone know of such a table?

The answer is dependent on the surgical procedure being performed. For example, in orthopaedics fluoroscopic guidance is inclusive to most of the surgical procedures. In general surgery or Otolaryngology, if the surgeon performs a FNA of a thyroid cyst using image guidance, the FNA and image guidance, as appropriate may be reported (radiology requirements met and reportable) It is important to understand the AMA CPT® coding rules related to the specific surgical procedure.

KZA covers these types of coding questions in the National Coding Workshops sponsored by the AAOHNS, AAOS and the ACS. Visit www.karenzupko.com for more information on the national coding workshop series.
