New billing code
One of our physicians mentioned a new billing code he was alerted to that covers the management of patients with coagulation problems. It is not a lab code for anti-coagulation measurement but a code that accounts for the physicians time to manage the problem. Does such a code exist ? ?
Sorry for the previous lack of spell check on the first question.
re: New billing code
there are codes for anticoagulation management....99363 for 8 or more INR measurements over the first 90 days and 99364 for at least 3 INR for each subsequent 90 days, among other things (tests, etc.)
Medicare does not pay separately for these codes. Any management beyond just the INR is typically billed as 99211.
