Billing 1 physician in and oon

Can a physician with 2 different tax ID numbers working for two different practices bill in and out of network? Has anyone dealt with this and run into problems? Any information is greatly appreciated.

We have 1 physician that bills under 2 practices and has 2 different Tax ID's. one Tax ID is his group, and the other is a group that he is under. What we learned is that he had to be in network under each Tax ID, because of seperate entity.
