CPT® code
What CPT® code would be used for an "Open Hip Capsulorraphy". 27036 seems to best fit, but there was no release of muscles documented.
This is talking about two different procedures -rraphy/repair -ectomy/removal
27036 is for -otomy is for the opening (incision through the skin, fascia, muscle, to the joint) and -ectomy is for removal of any part of the joint capsule or bone.
An "open hip capsulorraphy" indicates that the surgery has taken place and the repair (-rraphy) is being performed, which includes closure of the capsule followed by closure of the wound. If a greater procedure has been performed the closure would be considered incidental to that greater procedure such as 27253, or a few other hip open procedures from that section.
Determine your code selection from the operative report.
