G0500

Since CMS is for Medicare/Medicaid, does Medicaid use the same HCPCS codes instead of CPT codes as Medicare? For instance, the initial moderate sedation code for Medicare is G0500, but for commercial we use 99151/99152. Does Medicaid use the G0500 or the 99151/99152 CPT codes? TIA!Rich

re: G0500

It may be state-specific, I would suggest visiting your State Medicaid Website. Find-A-Code offers FREE Topic pages you will find helpful. There you can find Fee schedules, Claims/Billing, forms, and the Medicaid Provider page if the State has it available.

G-Codes are used to identify professional health care procedures and services that would otherwise be coded in CPT-4 but for which there are no CPT-4 codes.
