Can a nurse visit (99211) be charged separately under certain circumstances with 94664 (metered dose inhaler education)?

Example 1: Example 1: If an established patient is at the provider's office for a scheduled training session and the nurse provides the patient training on how to use the device & no other services were provided then you cannot report a separate E/M?


Example 2: If the nurse provides services outside of the MDI education during the encounter, then you may be able to report a separate E/M. You would append modifier 25 to the nurse visit code (99211) to show there was a significant and separately identifiable E/M service on the same day of the other service?
