Removal of embedded earring

Please help!

This is a child, referred by her physician, who had an earring embedded in the pinna of the right ear. She apparently had a bicycle collision with her sister which may have caused this to intrude into the ear.

PROCEDURE: The patient was brought into the Operating Room and placed in supine position. After an adequate level of facemask general anesthesia had been obtained, IV was inserted and the right ear was prepped and draped. Gentle traction on the earring caused it to come out the backside of the ear. No residual bleeding was seen. No purulent drainage seen. The wound was cleansed and Bacitracin ointment applied. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was taken to the recovery room in stable condition after completion.

Is there a CPT® code that can be used for this removal other than 69399? The surgeon wants to use 69205 but I told his office staff that could not be used because the earring was not in the auditory canal but the surgeon told them, "the auditory canal refers to any area outside the eardrum." Unless I have forgotten my A&P, that would not be correct...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
