Consults
Physicians owns practice and clinics with fnp's. Isn't it true the physician cannot bill consults from his own fnp's?
re: Consults
Is it supervision of these FNPs?
Are the FNPs referring to the physician for a service they are not expert in performing?
Does the visit meet the criteria of a consult? Request for an opinion or advice, the FNP is going to take that advice and treat the patient? Not a transfer of care or supervision?
I don't know of a coding rule that doesn't allow consults in a group, but I don't usually find that a patient going from an FNP to a physician in the group really meets the criteria for a consult. Payers may automatically deny because of edits in their system.
