Obesity Counseling

Does anyone know which is the best way to bill for Weight or Diet Counseling for commercial payers? I know for Medicare its the G-code. But we are looking to do this for all our patients. Since the Doctor would be performing these services, it wouldn't be the Medical Nutrition therapy codes (978xx) because those codes are only for nutritionists (correct?)

So far, the best codes I have found for these services are 994XX--Preventative Medicine, Individual Counseling.

One article I have found is to bill as such:

CPT® 99401-- Preventative Medicine Couseling 15 minutes.
Dx's V65.3 (dietary survelliance & counseling) WITH v70.0 (routine)

What is everyone's take on this? I would really Appreciate some feedback or reassurance.

re: Obesity Counseling

In my pediatric practice I use the apppropriate BMI code (V85.53, V85.54) linked to an E&M code dependent on how much time I spend with them. for adults I assume you can use one of the adult BMI codes instead and code based on time.
