G8553

My understanding is that only the primary dx code goes on the claim with this CPT® code and that we would send this CPT® code only to Medicare - not to any commercial medicare plans. Are both of these correct?

You are correct about only doing to traditional Medicare. I don't think the diagnosis matters since there is not a charge going in. G8553 is for informational purposes only to show you have E-prescribed fro that patient.
