No HPI in Hospital Progress Notes

I am reviewing hospital notes and have found that a lot of providers don't give a HPI other then "No new complaints" or "feeling better". Of course a subsequent visit doesn't require 3 out of 3 components only 2 out of 3, but I am not sure that with an illness that is a threat to life there shouldn't be more in the HPI. I am scoring them with a 99232 because the exam meets 1995 DG for EPF and the MDM meets either a High or a Moderate. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
