Lab Genetic Testing

Hello - Our laboratory is struggling with billing for genetic testing. It is starting with obtaining the pre-authorizations. As soon as we mention the units involved with the CPT codes, we get an automatic denial. The second issue is that, HCPCS has some S codes for genetic lab tests. I am having a hard time identifying what payors want the S code vs. the long list of CPT codes. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

S codes

Basically the "S" codes are used by BC/BS. Other payers may accept but you must check on individual basis. Medicare does not accept the S codes
