Does anyone use and get paid for modifier 47?

Our doctor is in pain management and performs nerve blocks in addition to chemodenervation procedures on the same date of service. Depending on insurance, he is sometimes paid. Is it permissible per his specialty to append a modifier 47 to the nerve blocks when he is the one performing both procedures? If so, how would it affect reimbursement? ---Suzanne
