Z-codes

My billing software, after more than 2 months of the changeover to ICD-10 is now rejecting charges that use more than one Z-code. Is there a problem with using more than one Z-code, say the Z-codes for screening for cervical cancer AND screening for STD's AND Z30 codes for contraceptive counseling/surveillance etc?

re: Z-codes

There shouldn't be rejections for using multiple Z-codes. Can you bypass the rejections? I would contact your software company and let them know that this odd phenomenon is happening.

The screening of cervical cancer , screening of STD and Z30.0XX are alowed to be reported together and should get accepted...by the software

re: Z-codes

I am being told >> within the ICD-10 coding book - there are Excludes 1 Notes that tell you which Dx codes are not allowed to be billed together. In this case you cannot bill Z01.419 with the Z12.4, Z30.431 - you cannot bill the Z11.51 with the Z30.431 <<

This doesn't seem right. With the old V codes all sorts of other V codes having to do with contraception, screening for STD's and neoplasia (vagainla or cervical) and counseling could be entered with the V72.31
