XP Modifier

Are you familiar with using the XP modifier on drug claims? I recall reading an article about this somewhere and I am drawing a blank. If I recall correctly you would use the XP if the provider obtained the drug from a SPP. The provider would use the appropriate J code with a zero charge amount and use the XP modifier. Can you validate that I am correct?
