How would you code the following procedures?

Procredure:

1. Arthroscopy of right shoulder, subacromial decompression, debridement of rotator cuff.

2. Arthroscopy of right shoulder with distal clavicle resection.

3. Arthroscopy of right shoulder with extensive intraarticular debridement of the labral tissues, synovial tissues with lysis of adhesions.

re: How would you code the following procedures?

If the anterior and posterior glenohumeral joint was debrided, I would use 29823. If only one area of the GH joint was addressed, then I would use 29822. For the distal clavicle resection, I'd use 29824 but the documentation has to state how much of the distal clavicle was removed. 8-10 cm must be removed for it to be a true DCR. I'd use 29826 for the subacromial decompression. As of 1/1/12, 29826 is an add-on code so you can bill it w/o a 51 modifier and full fee.
