Counseling with breast biopsy

I have a physician who is doing the breast biopsy and says that he does at least an hour of counseling after the biopsy with the patient and sometimes with the family. Can you bill an E/M code or counseling code with the biopsy code 10021??

Why is he doing it then? I think you are going to have a lot of trouble getting that paid.

Two suggestions: Do the counseling at the previous visit before the biopsy is scheduled.

Or, do it when the results come back.
