rejection from MC for office visit

What is the global window on an abscess I & D done in the office 10060? I saw a patient on 4/29 for I and D 10060, and again on 5/7/2013 for hypertension 401.1. The I and D was billed 10060 on 4/29 and the hypertension was billed 99214-24 on 5/7. The 5/7 office visit was denied because it was in the global window for the prior surgery. Any suggestions to avoid this in the future? Gregg Family Medicine MD

You used the correct modifier. Global is 10 days but you can bill using modifier 24 on E/M code. Appeal.
