coding a sex change patient

We have a patient that is undergoing sex change surgeries. He is registered as a "male" in our EMR, but came in today with menstraul problems. Our claim scrubber is not allowing this claim to be billed due to the gender issue. Where can I find a diagnosis to indicate this patient is a "he" that is still part"she"?

sex change

Can you use 302.50? Other than that I would think that you would have to have the patient registered as a female for this encounter.

Coding a Sex Change

If you are billing for the facility on a UB-04, you can enter condition code 45 for "ambiguous gender" to allow processing system to bypass the gender edits.
