G0181

IS G0181 still a valid code in 2013 and does Medicare pay for this?

G0180 is the initial certification for home health care. A face to face H&P must be done either 90 days prior to this or 30 days after.

G0179 is the recertification.

Question- Is a G0181 charged when physician reviews lab, reports, plan of care, etc..and spends atleat 30 minutes doing so and this is between the initial certification and re-certification.

This can only be done by physician who signed/ordered initial certification of home health and physician must have had a face-to-face service with patient within six months of billing G0181 and the provider provided atleast 30 minutes of service in one calender month. ?

I could not locate any recent info on MEDICARE/NOVITAS WEBSITE. It is listed on fee schedule though.

Thanks for you help!

Of course, you would not bill CPO if all that was done was certification of HHA. And, the time spent in the certification cannot be used in the CPO.
