Cranial Lesion Measurements CPT 61796

Hello - Does anyone know how the size of a cranial lesion is measured? Is it linear (length/width) or by volume (cubic unit)? Thank you in advance for your response.

CPT states "maximum dimension" so that is a linear measurement, not volume.
