Patient has appointments with 2 different doctors in the same clinic
I asked this question a few weeks ago and did not get a response so I am reaching out to you coders again for some help.
We have a patient that came in to our OB/GYN clinic. She saw the specialist for a problem on this date. We also have a FNP who does family practice which our OB/GYN does not do. This patient also saw the FNP for a different problem. Can you bill both visits? I would appreciate any help from anyone who has knowledge in this area. Thanks in advance.

Do the practitioners have different tax IDs? I would submit 2 claims if that is the case.
re: Patient has appointments with 2 different doctors in the same clinic
I work for a large provider group with several different specialties in it. They ALL have the same Tax ID number and yes, I would bill both visits because they are 2 different specialites.

Yes we have a large multispecialty clinic and do this all the time, the only issue would be if the patient saw two doctors of the same specialty in the same day; in that case the procedures from the second visit would generally be bundled unless there are obvious extenuating circumstances. You would always submit separate claims for each provider, as these were different encounters.
