Ob fist initial visit billing guidelines

We are getting denied for the initial ob visit; however, I believe it's because of the dx codes we are billing with . When billing 99213 we use the encoutner for supervision of normal first preg and the trimester; however we continually get denials...What are we doing wrong?

You should not be billing each individual OB visit. This is part of the Global OB codes (ie 59400, 59510). You can bill out visits for DX not related to the pregnancy. Hope this helps.

99213 is also an established patient E/m not an initial visit
