modifier 82

Hi! I work for an ortho group that performs their surgery's at a teaching facility, and I had been using modifier 82 when a fellow assists the surgeon, instead of a resident. However, I'm being told that I am to use modifier 80 because the payer is BCBSIL. On the BCBSIL website, they recognize modifier 82, so I am not sure what the correct coding modifier would be. Can anyone please give me some guidance? Thanks! TIA!
