CRNA Services

Occasionally, if the nurses are unable to start an IV on an inpatient, they will need to call in one of the CRNA's to do it. Do you know of a way to bill for the CRNA's time to do this? Would I use an E/M code on a 1500 claim? Do I bill for time? Say 30 minutes at such and such per minute?

CRNA Services

I just want to make sure.....So if the CRNA is an employee of our hospital we cannot charge for his time to start an IV on a patient who has bad veins where none of the RN's were able to complete the task? It does state in the CPT® code book, any procedure or service may be used to designate the services rendered by any qualified physician or other qualified health care professional. A CRNA could be an "other qualified health care professional". So I believe we could use CPT® 36410. Let me know your thoughts......and thanks for your time! I am just trying to find a way to get paid for the great work done by our CRNA's.
