ER encounter

Question: I have an encounter Where the pt came into the ED while in the ED the pt was admitted to Obersevation. My question is do I code this as an ED encounter of Overservation.

Call the facility to make sure that the pt was in Observation setting. If so, then you can use the Observation E/M services. It's important to match the status of the physician bill with the status of the facility bill. So, check with the facility before submitting the bill.
