global pregnancy

If a patient that's pregnant, comes into office complaining of other issues beside her pregnancy diagnosis, can a separate office visit be billed so that the visit does not fall under her global ob visit?

re: global pregnancy

When my doctor as an OB patient come in for cough for example I will bill out with notes showing that the visit was unrelated to the pregnancy and about 75% of the time they do pay...sometime they don't and then I call and point out that the visit was totally unrelated and about 50% time they will pay the second go around. Good luck!

Hi. Yes you can. To make it easier to keep separate, in case of denial, I would recommend having the provider document this on a separate sheet from the OB flow.

I agree with everything the previous two commenters said.

Look at the editorial comments in the front of the maternity section for "proof" to copy for the payer if they are difficult.
