mammo coding

When coding for a bilat mammo for a patient with implants we use the 77056/V43.82. Our billing department is saying these are being denied. Is this the correct codes to be using?..
Also, if there is something found on the orig mammo and the patient has to come back for add views of both breasts can we charge 77055-Lt and 77055-Rt since there is more involved in taking of the xrays and more films used than just the 77056? Thanks

Section 42 CFR 410.34(a) of the current Medicare regulations defines the terms
diagnostic and screening mammography for payment purposes. Section
410.34(a)(1) defines the term "diagnostic mammography" to mean "a radiological
procedure furnished to a man or woman with signs or symptoms of breast disease,
or a personal history of breast cancer, or a personal history of biopsy-proven breast
disease, and includes a physician's interpretation of the results of the procedure."
Section 410.34(a)(2) defines the term "screening mammography" to mean, "a
radiological procedure furnished to a woman without signs or symptoms of breast
disease, and includes a physician's interpretation of the results of the procedure."
Therefore, mammograms in patients with implants with history of prior breast cancer,
or with any current signs or symptoms of breast disease (scarring, nodules,
fibrocystic changes, pain, discharge, etc.) could be considered diagnostic exams,
but patients without signs or symptoms of breast disease can only be reimbursed as
screening tests.
Mammography; bilateral (Diagnostic)- 77056 is diagnostic but you are billing V43.82 (a status code), this is inappropriate linkage. You need to show signs/symptoms
