Pre op consultation

Hi,

Does a patient have to be seen in the office in order for a PCP to code a pre op consultation? If so how do I code this in order for the PCP to get paid?

Thank you

re: Pre op consultation

Yes he certainly does have to have the patient present and perform all criteria for an evaluation and management consultation (99241-99245 or 99251-99255). (Non-Medicare patient) Medicare does not cover the above codes. If Medicare (99201-99215)

Articles on Codapedia about this topic:

New users to Codapedia may not realize that there is a wealth of information on the site about coding. Type a topic into the search box above "look it up." In this case, I typed "Pre-operative" to get those results.
