ADHD, cognitive neurology, time

There has long been the problem that cognitive specialties are treated unfairly because a neurologic exam or ROS is more involved than a skin exam or ROS, for example.

Are there opinion pieces written by organizations addressing how cognitive neurology or management of adhd or learning disabilities or behavioral disorders is very time-consuming and, BY NATURE, should allow one to fulfill the time component, given much counseling, for billing purposes?

I have already looked to various neurologic societies but none, strangely, have spoken out formally on the issue as far as I can tell.

ADHD, time

For the initial service, I would suggest using the three key components. Have the patient or family member fill out a ROS/health history form, that meets the requirements for a high level visit. Then, do the exam I mentioned in the post just before this one.

This will give you a comprehensive history and exam, allowing you to bill a high level visit for a complex patient.

For return visits, time is usually the best way to select the code.
