covering physicians

we are considering teaming with another physician's office for coverage purposes.

we are an ob/gyn practice and have always used our own staff to cover; however, with vacations, maternity leave and so forth we've begun looking into alternatives.

i've found 2 things-

A) if our dr and a covering dr sees a patient on the same day the only person to get paid is the dr who sees the pt first.

B) if the pt seen is established with our practice any billing by the covering dr must be established as well.

so, are these answers correct in anyone's experience and finally, if the covering dr delivered a patient of ours do they bill for the delivery only and we bill for prenatals and post partums? or am i missing something here as well?
