ICD-9 Code help

Hello, My provider gave the diagnosis "premalignant facial lesion" and a CPT® code 17000. I am unable to find out the icd-9 code (i mean a little bit confused on what is the appropriate icd-9 code). Can we use icd-9 code 702.0? Until now i used icd-9 code 702.0 for a premalignant lesion when CPT® code 17000 is marked. I need an advise whether to use this icd-9 code or not? If not then give me the appropriate icd-9 code for "premalignant facial lesion"

Thanks
Anitha

neoplasm

I would use a neoplasm code 238.2 Neoplasm of unsertain behavior skin...since it's not quite malignant and not benign. Unless the doctor can confirm either of these..

173.9 is for malignant neoplasm of skin

216.9 is for benign neoplasm of skin

Premalignant skin lesion

According to CMS, LCD L28232, the only covered diagnosis for CPT® code 17000, 17003, 17004, 96567 and J7308, is 702.0, actinic keratosis, which is a premalignant lesion no matter location.
