medicare modifier for e/m service

medicare denied payment for INpt e/m 99222. Medicare did pay for the following day e/m bc it had a modifier 57 and sx was performed....Medicare stated that i needed a modifier on the 99222 for it to be considered for payment...I cannot think of any other modifier that would be appropriate for this. Please help..

The only one I can think of is a 25 if patient was in the office that day also or if a procedure was performed that day.
