Assistant Surgeon Reimbursement

We are getting ready to sign a contract with an HMO and it states that an assistant surgeon will be paid 16% of the current Medicare Fee Schedule.....that seems low. What would be acceptable?

No--it is not.

I think it depends on geographic location. Some are paid @ 20% of the surgeon's approved amount and others are paid @ 16%. PA's & RN's receive less.
