Allergenic Extract 95165 billed with 95120 or 95125

Our Allergy providers bill for the Allergenic Extract (95165) as well as CPT® 95120 and 95125. I informed them that they can no longer bill for the extract since this is already included with the allergy injection when they utilize CPT® 95120 or 95125. If they want to continue billing for the extract (95165) then they should bill either a 95115 or 95117. Is this correct?

You are correct. The 95115 and 95117 are used with the extract 95165. I suggest you bill unit to unit, meaning don't bill monthly for large units. Bill 95165 with the 95117 or 95115 with however many units for that days shots. Don't forget you need to bill under the physician IN THE OFFICE at the time the shot is given, not the doctor the patient's care is under. Hope that helps!
