Critical Care

Can I use CPT® code 99223-25(first day admission code) with critical care code 99291 if doctor visited two differnt time on same date?
I mean I can bill two code for same date?

If doctor admit patient at critical care unit, I should use only critical care code?

re: Critical Care

Yes, if they represent two distinct episodes of care. Not if they are for the same time/episode of care.

Yes: patient admitted at 1:30 pm, admission done, dictated. Then at 5 pm the patient takes a turn for the worse, and physician goes back, intervenes, documents cc.

No: patient admitted, is critical, and the physician documents the admission. Bill only for cc, not for both.

Two separate episodes of care and notes.
