81000 & 81002

Aetna denying the procedure codes 81000 & 81002 stating mutually exclusive each other. How to resolve this issue ?

Can we bill the CPT® 81000 with 59 modifier?

You are correct. 81000 is dip+microscopy; 81002 is dip without microscopy. You select based on whether you do the microscopy, but you should not be paid for both.

Correct you cannot bill these two together. Ithought you meant billing one of them with an office visit.
