coding home visits

I am struggling with the VA re a coding problem that perhaps someone can help with. I have been billing for yrs and code home visits as 12 for POS. I have never used different CPT® codes for a home visit. However, the VA is telling me using POS of 12 requires using different CPT® codes strictly for home visits. They aren't allowed to tell me which CPT® codes to use......I'm supposed to figure it out on my own. I have contacted 3 local VA coding offices to ask and no one has ever heard of using different CPT® codes for POS 12 visits. I was referred to codapedia!! HELP!!

re: coding home visits

per the CPT® book 2015, pg. 22, the following codes are used to report evaluaton and management services provided in a private residence: New Patient, 99341-99345, Establised Patients are, 99347-99350. These codes are used for POS 12, hope this helps:)

I forgot an important piece of information: I am a mental health provider and am charging for therapy visits. Thanks, Ann
