follow up colonoscopy following a polypectomy

Patient has a repeat colonoscopy following a polypectomy for surveillence. What CPT be used and why? Thanks

it depends

on what the doctor actually did during the "follow-up" colonosocpy. 45378 would work unless the doctor removed any additional polyps, took any biopsies, or cauterized any bleeding. You'll have to check the procedure report. There shouldn't be any need for any special modifiers to indicate it was a follow-up. Just report it as you would any other colonoscopy.
