Can Modifer -50 be used with this code?

re: 64612

yes, it can depending on documentation of course, and it is payer specific. Some want it on two separate lines with anatomical modifiers, some will accept one line with 50 and not sure about those who accept using units. This has big one huge challenge to sort out who wants what and which way. And there are those that no matter how you may designate bilateral, they will not pay for both sides. Prepare to battle for maximum revenue and study up on your payer policies. Sorry I couldn't give you a basic yes or no answer but billing for these procedures bilaterally performed continues to be an ongoing issue for our practice. Sue
