Holter monitor billing

can anyone please help me in telling me how to bill for holter testing: the procedure codes we use are:

93270-TC
93272

when we bill out we get a denial stating that the moidifier is not consistent with the procedure code which means they will not pay. Maybe we are billing incorrectly can some one please tell me how to bill.

We only put the monitors on so that is why we bill for the technical part. When we take out the modifier that is when we get paid

Thanks in Advance

re: Holter monitor billing

Code 93270 includes hook-up, and disconnection only, no modifier is needed and code 93270 is used once to hook-up and remove after recording.

Thanks

the company that we get the holters from is telling us we have to use the TC modifier because we are hooking up the machine and taking off. and they bill for the interpretation for it. but we are not getting paid with the tc modifier. which is the correct way of billing per them. So i should just bill with out the TC is what you are saying and that is the correct way of billing.

Should the modifier go on the 93272

re: Holter monitor billing

You do not need TC, the code describes the service you are performing

re: Holter monitor billing

Terminology first. Are you billing for a Holter or an External Event Monitor? Holter codes will be in the series 93224-93227. Event Monitors are 93268-93272.

In either case, no modifier is needed for any billed code.
