69210 Guidance

Due to the changes in the code for 2014, do I understand that if we remove impacted cerumen with instrument on both ears, we would code 69210 once w/50 modifier? Will they pay more based on this? Or, do we bill the code twice (once for each ear), and include 50 modifier on one of them? Thanks!

The descriptor of code 69210 has been clarified to reflect that code 69210 is a unilateral code. For bilateral impacted cerumen removal, report code 69210 with modifier 50, Bilateral Procedure, appended.
