Rural Health Clinic Billing for Nursing Home Visits
There are specific CPT® codes for Initial Nursing Home Visits(99304-99306), and Subsequent Nursing Home Visit(99307-99310). We are a Provider based Rural health clinic, and we have been advised that we should be billing these visits with regular E/M Codes (99211-99215) and just changing the POS codes. Can you please give me clarification, as i feel this is incorrect information. Thanks

re: Rural Health Clinic Billing for Nursing Home Visits
If you are a MD doing the admission to the patient into the nursing home you would bill Part B and use the codes (99304-99306), or if you are doing your sub visit you would use the (99307-99310). Not E/M codes. Are you seeing these patients in the Nursing Facility? Also are they in Skilled, Independent, or Assisted Living. If is assisted living you would use a different set of CPT® codes for the admissions, sub visits, and discharges. Hope this helps.
