CPT code for removal abdominal lesion

I do coding for our busy ob/gyn office. One of our patients has a
painful 4 cm nodule. Excision of this sub q nodule is scheduled for the near future. I have showed our dr several codes, which he states are not correct. The nodule is just under the skin subq, above the fascia. Lateral to the umbilicus. Any suggestions? Thanks mbrashear

Check out the CPT codes 11400-11406 (choose the code that represents the size which in your case should be 11404 or 11406 depending on the size of the actual lesion and excision margins). You will need to wait for the pathology report for a definitive diagnosis before coding the final ICD9 and CPT codes, but this will get you to the right section of the coding book per your description.
